Abraham Lincoln said it best...
"Whatever you are, be a good one."

Homeschool, home school
As a homeschool Mom, let me rephrase that, as a Mom I want my kids to do the best they can. I'm constantly reminding them that they can do anything they want, anything they can dream up, they can do it. Be the best you can, be untouchable. I use these words often. We are our children's guide. Not just their teacher, not just their parent, but their visionaries for their future. We help them see the big picture. So think big and your children will too. Do the best you can for them and they will always remember that and they will follow your lead.
Abraham Lincoln said it best... "Whatever you are, be a good one." TM : ) Even though you don't want to do something, okay, let me change the wording around a bit... Even though your child does not like or want to learn or do something (school), it's in their best interest to do it. This morning is a fine example of my youngest not wanting to write, write anything for that matter. "I don't like writing!" Well, that was a struggle for me and to interpret to her why she should write is never a fun discussion. I gave her an analogy of something she does love and I explained to her where the writing would be an important part of it. Not the whole part, but you know, they need some part. So I clarified to her, "Be good at everything, even if you don't like it. Just so you know how in case you need it." I think I saw a lightbulb turn on in her head. I'm crossing my fingers! TM : )
"Listen to learn and learn to listen."
This has been my favorite phrase to say to my 11 year old. It drives him nuts. "But Mom! What does that mean exactly? It's just a big circle!" I guess it's his age and it bugs him that it doesn't have a beginning or an ending. Now when we have "serious" conversation, he says it before me, "I know, I know, listen to learn and learn to listen." Good, he's getting it! TM : ) "You can be anything you want, but you have to run after it and don't let anyone tell you otherwise." TM : )
"If you say you can't, then you never will." TM : )
“Just because they’re grown-ups, doesn’t mean they’re right or they know. Use your brain and remember what your Dad and I have taught you.” TM : )
"Of course you can do that. Anything you want to be, you can." Those are the words I say most to my children on a daily basis. Knowing that as a parent, I can encourage my kids to be great, is such a satisfying feeling. Homeschool encourages greatness in ANY subject that my children are interested in. Another point for homeschool. TM : )
